



To increase the response rate of our direct mail, we crafted "official looking" mailing envelopes. These strategies prove highly effective, particularly in less saturated markets. To consistently drive foot traffic through our customers' doors, we changed the appearance of the envelopes every quarter. Our R&D department (Rip off and Duplicate) innovated numerous techniques to enhance mail opening rates. Even when confronted with cease and desist letters from FedEx, I would create a slightly modified version. Some Attorney Generals have raised concerns about my approach due to its expansive interpretation of the gray area. However, my ability to navigate within the framework, coupled with a clear understanding of what to avoid, grants me the flexibility to explore the entire spectrum of permissible actions. I strategically position my efforts, keeping my toes just beyond the boundary, continually pushing the limits of the gray area.
